Billy Scott & The Party Prophets to Play at July 10th Downtown Concert

Don't Forget....the Friday After Friday Concert & All-America City Celebration is set for Friday, July 10, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and will feature the Beach, Boogie, Blues, Motown and R&B sounds of local favorite Billy Scott & The Party Prophets. The public is welcome at this FREE concert held on West Broad Street in front of Mitchell Community College. Beer, wine soft drinks and food will be available for purchase. Great American Kids’ Parade Saturday, July 11th

Statesville's First Great American Kids' Parade is set for Saturday, July 11 from 10–11 am in Downtown Statesville. It’s an old-fashioned neighborhood parade for the whole community! Come decorated in your best red, white and blue and pedal, push, pull, scoot or stroll in the parade. We encourage our downtown businesses to join in the fun and decorate storefronts and offer specials on this day. Helmets will be strictly enforced and no pets will be allowed in the parade. Cash & prizes will be awarded at the end of the parade to the top 5 kids based on the following criteria: originality, creativity, spectator appeal and display of red, white and blue. Registration and lineup beginning at 9:30 am in the parking lot off E. Broad Street between the Clock Tower building and Nu-Way Shoes. Registration is free. Parade starts at 10 am on the sidewalk on the southern side of Broad St., travels west to Kelly St. and returns on sidewalk on the northern side of Broad St. Statesville Police will control traffic. read more>>

DSDC Board of Directors Presents Awards at Annual Meeting

The Downtown Statesville Development Corporation handed out a number of awards and selected new board members at its annual meeting Monday at the Second Fret Coffeehouse and Music Hall. Outgoing Chairman Arnold Watt said board members were inspired to develop awards for downtown businesses after attending the North Carolina Main Street Conference, which was at the Statesville Civic Center in January. "We had people from a lot of communities from around the state who said, 'You folks have something special here,' " Watt said.
He said that in the same way the Main Street program recognizes different communities in a variety of different categories, DSDC should honor it own downtown business owners. read more>>
