Tickets Now On Sale for the Statesville Grape & Gourmet Tasting

On Friday, February 24, 2012 from 7:00-10:00 pm come be a part of one of the area’s most enjoyable and popular events, the Statesville Grape and Gourmet Tasting. This exclusive wine tasting event gives attendees an opportunity to taste a variety of 75 different wines from North Carolina vineyards and around the country, “sample” food from some of Statesville’s best restaurants and caterers, socialize with friends and participate in the silent auction benefiting Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County. This “cannot miss event” will be held at the Statesville Civic Center located at 300 South Center Street, in historic Downtown Statesville. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 day of event. Renovated City Hall Opens to Public Sunday, February 5

Statesville citizens will get a chance to walk throughout the newly renovated City Hall during a public open house on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2-5 p.m. For more than a year, the 120-year old building has undergone major renovations to restore its historic character and make space for City offices. On Sunday, guests will enter on the first floor from either entrance. Handicapped access is available from the parking lot entrance. On the first floor, visitors will be amazed at the openness of the lobby area. They can view historic photographs and City Hall-related memorabilia provided by local historian Steve Hill. They can stand in the office of Statesville’s first postmaster, A.D. Cowles, and see where the Statesville Planning Department will soon be relocated. Victorian-era refreshments will also be served. There is no fee to attend the Open House. Visitors are encouraged to sign up for a tour when they arrive at the open house. For more information, call 704-878-3586.

Gildan Relocating U.S. Sales and Marketing Offices to Downtown Statesville

Montreal-based activewear manufacturer Gildan announced today it will be consolidating its U.S. Sales and Marketing offices from Newton and Greensboro, North Carolina to downtown Statesville, North Carolina. The move will bring approximately 30 professional jobs to the 9,500 square foot building at the corner of Tradd and Broad Streets, formerly occupied by Wachovia Bank and, most recently, Dana Corporation. The real estate deal was brokered by Harry Tsumas of Tsumas Real Estate & Development and Edwin Hunter of Edwin Hunter & Associates.
