The Nicholson Furniture Building was constructed in the early 1920s and has been a part of Statesville’s commerce ever since. It has 10,000 square feet.
It initially housed the Nicholson Furniture Company on the first level and professional offices on the second level. Later, it was home to Raylass Department Store, and it currently houses the local Army-Navy Store.

There is evidence that the building originally had a separate front entrance to access the second level. This entrance could be reestablished to offer a private entrance to the second level. The only access way to the second level is currently from the first level store front. The second level would make nice professional offices, downtown apartments or condos. The first level is currently leased, providing immediate income while the building is being rehabilitated.
