Italian Night at the Statesville Evening Farmers Market

On Thursday, June 26, 4:00-‘till the Evening Farmers Market in historic downtown Statesville will demonstrate easy ways to cook Italian using the locally grown vegetables now available at the market. Mediterranean cooking is reportedly loaded with health benefits and easy to prepare. Taste recipes and learn to use the vegetables and herbs available at the market for delicious Mediterranean flavors without having to leave the country!

September 12 Downtown Statesville Art Crawl Applications Now Available

Downtown Statesville Development Corporation is accepting applications from artists who wish to participate in the Friday, September 12, 2008 Downtown Statesville Art Crawl which will be held from 5 – 9 pm. Billy Scott and the Prophets to Play at July 11 Friday After Five Concert

The Piedmont HealthCare Friday After Five Summer Concert Series will be held on West Broad Street on Friday, July 11. 'Billy Scott and the Prophets' will bring their beach music to the streets of Statesville from 5 - 8 pm. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase at the concerts. There is no cost to attend and the public is welcome.

Song Writer's Night at La Dolce Vita Cafe

The Song Writter Sessions will be held the 3rd Thursday of every month from 7 to 9 pm at La Dolce Vita Cafe beginnning June 19. These events will feature great original music from area song writers. Each session will feature three writers in a rotation set, each doing several songs, with one writer beign featured in the second set. Summer Art Camps Offered at Broad Street Gallery

This summer Broad Street Gallery is offering Summer Art Camps with artist Ilisa Miller Howell. There will be two seperate camps, one for children ages 6-10 and one for children ages 11-14. The camp for children age 6-10 will be held in June. The camp for children age 11-14 will be held in July.

Downtown Statesville Development Corporation reflects on year's accomplishments

Statesville leaders believe changes made this year will strengthen the historical district for years to come. Downtown Statesville Development Corporation’s Board of Directors held its annual meeting at the Depot on Wednesday to talk about the organization’s achievements and future plans. “This year will have a lot of changes for this organization,” said outgoing chairman Bob Dooley. “The strength and the momentum we have going on is going to carry us over for years to come.”

Rotary Farmers Market Has New Location in Downtown

The Rotary Farmers Market, in its 33 year in downtown Statesville, will open May 17, 2008. The market in its new location at the city parking lot, located at the corner of S. Meeting and W. Front Streets, will be open on Saturdays and Wednesdays from 7 am until noon and Mondays from 4 pm until 7 pm. Local consumers are urged to buy local, fresh produce, flowers, plants and other products from the Rotary Farmers Market.

AKRS Design Group Develops Award Winning Historic Downtown Statesville Brochure

Recently Downtown Statesville Development Corporation announced that the Historic Downtown Statesville brochure was recognized for its excellence at the 2007 N.C. Main Street Awards competition. In the category of Best Downtown Promotional Item: Text and Graphics, DSDC received an Award of Merit.
