The Rotary Farmer’s Market was established by the Statesville Rotary Club in 1975 to provide local farmers an outlet to sell locally grown products and to provide Statesville citizens an opportunity to purchase fresh, locally grown produce and other products. The Evening Farmers Market @ Pecan Park
Oct 26 @ 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm

The Evening Farmers Market of Statesville was started by a group of local farmers who wanted an afternoon market to sell only their locally grown produce, baked good or crafts.

There were four vendors at the first market. The fourth says he sold everything before he was able to unload it from his car and set up. So began the Evening Farmers Market fourteen seasons ago.

Farmers markets were the first “grocery stores”, are still the main source of produce in many foreign countries, and are gaining in numbers and popularity in the USA as people learn that locally grown vegetables are higher in nutrients because they are sold hours after picking, precious fuel is saved in transportation, reduced packaging therefore saving trash from the landfill and locally grown means dollars spent go directly to the grower. Getting to know the farmer you can learn how the produce is grown and recipes for cooking them. Shopping locally benefits all and is truly a beneficial shopping experience.

Murder Mystery Dinner Theater @ Historic Sharpe House
Oct 27 @ 6:15 pm

Charlotte Murder Mystery Theater returns to Statesville to present “Evil Never Dies”!!! In conjunction with The Historic Sharpe House and Statesville Civic Center on Friday October 27, 2017. That evening The Sharpe House becomes Bones Mortuary, the setting for the first part of the production.

—He was called Evil-Eyed Emil. When he looked at people with his infamous right eye, so the story went, bad things invariably happened. As he was being driven out of Reaper Junction on Halloween night exactly 100 years ago, Emil vowed to return one day to wreak his vengence. Last night, it was announced that Emil had been sighted in the woods and, true to his century-old proclamation, Grimsby Graves had been the victim of Emil’s anger.

Only through careful questioning and precise logic would motive and murderer emerge. And, YOU get to help the Detective figure out “Whodunit.”—

Guests will meet at The Historic Sharpe House aka Bones Mortuary at 6:15 P.M. for the visitation and wake. Dinner will be provided by Bistro Catering and Events and the wake will be served next door at The Statesville Civic Center.

Tickets are $75.00 per person which includes a four course dinner, appetizers of antipasto skewers, a salad course, entree choice of chicken piccata or beef lasagna (a choice of vegetable lasagna will also be available), and homemade tiramisu for dessert. Appropriate wines will be served with the entrees and dessert, non-alcoholic beverages will also be provided.

Dress for the evening is Sunday best, we’re having Mr. Graves’s wake…COSTUME CONTEST, for the best dressed mourner and the best grieving couple.

This event will be a fundraiser for The Silas Alexander Sharpe Foundation.
Call Keith at 704-682-7508 for questions and/or reservations (when calling, please have entree choice selected).
