The Evening Farmers Market @ Pecan Park
Sep 28 @ 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm

The Evening Farmers Market of Statesville was started by a group of local farmers who wanted an afternoon market to sell only their locally grown produce, baked good or crafts.

There were four vendors at the first market. The fourth says he sold everything before he was able to unload it from his car and set up. So began the Evening Farmers Market fourteen seasons ago.

Farmers markets were the first “grocery stores”, are still the main source of produce in many foreign countries, and are gaining in numbers and popularity in the USA as people learn that locally grown vegetables are higher in nutrients because they are sold hours after picking, precious fuel is saved in transportation, reduced packaging therefore saving trash from the landfill and locally grown means dollars spent go directly to the grower. Getting to know the farmer you can learn how the produce is grown and recipes for cooking them. Shopping locally benefits all and is truly a beneficial shopping experience.
