There is an event or an occasion for everyone to enjoy in Downtown Statesville. From casual summer concerts and live theater performances, to rustic farmers markets and inspirational art festivals events. You can be sure we will entertain you all year round.
The Evening Farmers Market of Statesville was started by a group of local farmers who wanted an afternoon market to sell only their locally grown produce, baked good or crafts.
There were four vendors at the first market. The fourth says he sold everything before he was able to unload it from his car and set up. So began the Evening Farmers Market fourteen seasons ago.
Farmers markets were the first “grocery stores”, are still the main source of produce in many foreign countries, and are gaining in numbers and popularity in the USA as people learn that locally grown vegetables are higher in nutrients because they are sold hours after picking, precious fuel is saved in transportation, reduced packaging therefore saving trash from the landfill and locally grown means dollars spent go directly to the grower. Getting to know the farmer you can learn how the produce is grown and recipes for cooking them. Shopping locally benefits all and is truly a beneficial shopping experience.
Have you heard of the 48 Hour Film Project? The 48 Hour Film Project is a contest in which teams of filmmakers are assigned a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue, and have 48 hours to create a short film containing those elements. Shortly after the 48 hours of filmmaking, the films from each city are then screened in that city.
Doors open for seating at 6pm to allow you time for a pre screening meal or drinks (available for purchase). Viewing starts at 7pm.
Come enjoy a tasting from Rickety Bridge! $5 per person.
