The holidays are here and Downtown Statesville has an exciting season of events coming up to celebrate! You won’t want to miss out on this magical time of year. Take in the beauty of twinkling lights and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while listening to your favorite holiday carols! Take care of your holiday list in a flash, as you’ll find something for everyone in Downtown Statesville. From specialty shops for that perfect gift to delicious restaurants for you to stop and enjoy a meal while grabbing a gift card for your favorite foodie! Take a look at the upcoming events for this holiday season:

Saturday, November 23
Annual Yuletide Tea
12 - 4 pm, The Historic Sharpe House
Join The Historic Sharpe House on Saturday, November 23, 2019 as they kick off their Holiday Season at the place to be! Delicacies from their kitchen and those made by local high school culinary arts students will be served with freshly brewed Black Loose Leaf tea (apple juice for the children). Tickets are on sale though 6 pm Friday, November 22.

Saturday, November 30
Small Business Saturday
All day, Downtown Statesville
With more than 50 unique shops, boutiques and restaurants throughout the downtown district, you are sure to find something for everyone on your list this year. Shoppers supporting local businesses can even receive Shop Small® giveaways. Make a purchase at any of the participating businesses and enter a drawing to win a $500 Holiday Shopping Spree in Downtown Statesville!
Remember…shopping at our locally owned independent businesses helps support your friends, neighbors, and our local economy. So spread the cheer and give the gift that keeps on giving by eating, shopping and living local in Downtown Statesville this holiday season.

Statesville Cares - Annual “Fill the Trailer” Toy Drive
5-7 pm, Corner of S. Center Street and Court Street
Statesville Cares will warm up the festivities with the annual “Fill the Trailer” Toy Drive, sponsored by the Statesville Police Department.  From 5-7 p.m., SPD officers will be accepting new, unwrapped toy/fun gifts for kids and teens, ages 5-17 to distribute to our community’s disadvantaged children. They’ll also be warming up the night with free hot chocolate and cookies!  Stop by their trailer on Court Street and show you care! They will be accepting toys through December 14 at the Police Station, 330 S. Tradd Street.

Downtown Statesville Tree Lighting Ceremony
6-7 pm, Corner of S. Center Street and Court Street
Join us at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown Statesville to help kick off the holidays! Bring your friends and family and celebrate with us! Enjoy caroling by Eufola Baptist Church and holiday sing-a-longs, cookies & cocoa, and Santa! The celebration culminates with the lighting of the tree.

December 5, 7, 8 and 13, 14, 15
A Christmas Carol Walking Tour presented by Theatre Statesville
6 pm (Tours every half hour), Downtown Statesville
Tickets are on sale now for Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol that will be performed as a walking tour throughout Downtown Statesville. The production is described as a “progressive play.” This unique format will have scenes from the beloved story performed at various Downtown locations. Each tour group will be led by its own Narrator and will follow Scrooge through his night of reckoning with the three Spirits of Christmas. The shows will take place December 5, 7, 8 and 13,14,15 and will begin at 6:00 pm, with tours leaving every half hour. Last tour starts at 8:30 pm.
All shows begin at the Statesville City Hall at 227 S. Center Street, Statesville, NC. Tickets are $15 plus tax and can be purchased online at www.statesvilletheatre.com.

Friday, December 6
Holiday Shop & Stroll Spectacular
5:30 - 9 pm, Downtown Statesville
We are bringing the feeling of an old-fashioned, small town Christmas season to the streets of Downtown, with a dash of excitement and a sprinkle of magic! Enjoy a fun evening as merchants stay open late for open houses, stroll the sidewalks, listen to carolers, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, and take in the sparkle of holiday lights. Enjoy Santa Central, a live nativity, make a s’more by the fire, take a train ride and experience a little snowfall magic! Visit www.downtownstatesvillenc.org

Santa Central at City Hall
5:30 - 9 pm, Downtown Statesville
Santa Central will be filled with fun for the little ones! Visit with Santa Claus and his elves, write a letter and send it straight to the North Pole with the magic mailbox, and make a craft with Santa’s elves!

Sunday, December 8
Christmas Parade
3 pm, Downtown Statesville
The Statesville Christmas Parade is a holiday tradition that our community looks forward to year after year! Center Street in Downtown Statesville will be lined with men, women, and children dressed in their festive gear watching the lineup of floats, cars, horses, and more pass by. Children will be excited to fill their pockets with candy and catch a glimpse of Santa as the grand finale!
The 2019 Statesville Christmas Parade, sponsored by the 30th Masonic District is Sunday, December 8 at 3:00 pm. The parade route begins at Bell Street and heads North on Center Street, finishing at Statesville High School.

Thursday, December 12
Holiday Pops Concert with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra
6:30 – 9:30 pm, Statesville Civic Center
The City of Statesville and Opus Financial Advisors, Inc. are thrilled to welcome back The Greensboro Symphony Orchestra to the Statesville Civic Center for an evening of beautiful holiday music! The doors will open at 6:30pm and there will be a cash bar of beer and wine available. The concert will begin at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Statesville Civic Center. Saturday, December 14
Christmas Holiday Special with Melinda Doolittle
7:30 pm, Mac Gray Auditorium
Melinda has wowed audiences everywhere with her ‘big voice’ and ‘soulful’ performances, from the White House to the Musicians Hall of Fame, from the Kennedy Center to Carnegie Hall. Don’t miss this special holiday performance brought to you by Performing Arts Live of Iredell!

Saturday, December 28
New Year’s Tea
12 - 4 pm, The Historic Sharpe House
Join the Historic Sharpe House on this fifth day of Christmas and last Saturday of December as they celebrate the end of 2019 and the dawning of a new decade! Delicacies from their kitchen and local high school culinary arts students will be on the menu as well as freshly brewed black tea.

Mitchell Community College Holiday Events
Community Messiah
Date: Sunday, December 1, 2019 - 3:00pm
Location: First Presbyterian Church, Statesville
The Christmas portion of Handel's beloved oratorio will be directed by Melody Beaty, performed by local area chorus members, and will feature some Mitchell faculty and alumni as soloists. At - First Presbyterian Church in Statesville.

Mitchell Chorus Holiday Concert

Celebrate the holidays with the 40 members of the Mitchell Chorus singing a mix of traditional choral works, sacred Christmas pieces, and secular holiday songs with a twist!
