With two concerts left, the Piedmont Healthcare Friday After Five Summer Concert Series is hoping to end the season on a high note! The last few concerts were affected by rain and heat, but organizers are hopeful for beautiful weather, great music, and large crowds at the remaining concerts!

On August 25, Phatt City is bringing Beach Music (and so much more) back to Downtown Statesville! This band has been around since the early 1970’s, and they know how to entertain the crowds! Playing the best of beach, R&B, and dance music, they will get the crowd up on their feet and moving with favorites such as Respect, Carolina Girl, Pink Cadillac, and I Love Beach Music. But it doesn’t stop there. Their talents reach out to many other genres and artists, such as Prince, Doobie Brothers, and Carrie Underwood. The talents of Phatt City spans many decades, from Etta Jones’ At Last to Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling. Whether you like to shag, line dance, slow dance, or dance to your own beat, we have a place for you!

Rounding out the 2017 season is Tonya Wood Music Co. on September 8. Tonya is a local favorite and we always have a good time when she takes the stage! Tonya Wood is a self-taught, soulful musician with a passion for music and live performances. According to her Facebook page, she was “raised in a musical family steeped in traditional Bluegrass… listening to her Mom’s favorite music growing up from Patsy Cline to Al Green, then flavored by her older brothers rock collection of Molly Hatchet, Led Zeppelin, & Boston.” Tonya has traveled all over the country (and even out of the country) singing with various artists as well as solo performances. We are fortunate that Tonya calls Statesville home, and look forward to having her back at Friday After Five!
